Minions & Monsters

Minions & Monsters is screening at Showcase Cinema De Lux in the West Quay Shopping Centre, with showings running from Friday 29 August through to Monday 1 September. It's a family-friendly one, and the times are spread across the morning and early afternoon, so it's easy to fit around a weekend.

The story follows the Minions as they set off to find frightening creatures to star in their monster movie. Once they've unleashed them upon an unsuspecting world, they have to race to save the day. It's exactly the kind of thing that works on the big screen, especially with the Minions running around.

The screening is part of Music in the City, a two-day, multi-venue community music festival that's been running since 2008. The organisers place it alongside the city's other big annual events, like the Southampton International Boat Show, Southampton Pride and the Summer Sessions music festival, so it's one of several things happening across town this weekend.

As for when to go, the showings are Friday 29 August at 09:40 and 12:00; Saturday 30 August at 11:15; Sunday 31 August at 10:45; and Monday 1 September at 11:00 and 12:10. Tickets are £8.90 to £11.40, with OAP and NUS tickets at £7.95 to £8.95, under 15s at £7.45 to £7.95, and military tickets £7.50 with a valid ID. There's a gallery option at £16.40 and a family ticket for £30. XPlus films add £3, 3D films add £2, and 3D glasses are £1.
