Leviticus

Leviticus opened at Showcase Cinema De Lux on Monday 7 September, and it's running through the week. It's the feature film debut of writer-director Adrian Chiarella, and it comes from the producers of Talk To Me and The Babadook, so it's sitting in the same company as some of the most talked-about horror of the last few years.

The story follows two teenage boys whose forbidden relationship unleashes a terrifying supernatural entity. The twist is in the form it takes: the entity appears as the person each boy desires most, which in this case is the other. It's a horror setup that works on two levels, blending nerve-shredding suspense with an emotionally powerful love story, and it's that combination that gives the film its weight.

If you're planning to catch it, there are plenty of times to choose from. On Friday, it's showing at 14:00, 21:15, and 00:20; Saturday at 22:50; Sunday at 22:00; Monday at 17:30, 19:50, and 22:10; Tuesday at 18:45 and 21:45; Wednesday at 21:50; and Thursday at 22:10. Most of the screenings are later in the evening, which suits a horror film well enough.

Tickets are £8.90 to £11.40, with OAP and NUS down to £7.95 to £8.95, under 15s £7.45 to £7.95, and military £7.50 with a valid ID. There's also a gallery option at £16.40 and a family ticket for £30. You'll find it at Showcase Cinema De Lux, Level 4, West Quay Shopping Centre, Southampton, SO15 1QF.
