A special sci-fi themed film screening of Interstellar at Showcase Cinema de Lux, coinciding with the Sir Patrick Moore Lecture at the Selsey Centre.
Interstellar is back on the big screen at Showcase Cinema de Lux Southampton on Friday 17 July, a special sci-fi themed screening that lines up with the Sir Patrick Moore Lecture over at the Selsey Centre. If you've seen it before, it's one of those that works better the second time around, and if you haven't, it's a proper way to catch it.
The screening is at the Showcase in Westquay South, which is a ten-screen cinema. The screens there are XPlus, so they're on the larger side, and they run Dolby Atmos and laser projection, which is exactly what you want for a film that leans so heavily on its sound and scale. The seats are fully customisable recliners, so you can stretch out and settle in for the full runtime.
If you're planning to make a proper evening of it, there's the VIP Gallery bar, the Mayflower, which does refillable popcorn and a complimentary welcome drink. It's a good spot to hang out before the film starts, especially if you're meeting friends there first. The cinema also runs Sensory Friendly Screenings every Sunday at 10:30am and Saver Mondays with tickets starting from £5.99, alongside child and family ticket options, so it's worth keeping in mind if you're looking for other ways to catch a film in the city.
