Evening zipline adventure on a high ropes course lit with glowing lights during half term, strictly for over-18s.
Go Ape is bringing its Sundown Adventures to Itchen Valley Country Park this autumn, with the first sessions starting on Friday 16 October. It's their once-a-year after-dark experience: the usual Treetop Adventure Plus course is taken up a level as the sun goes down, with the canopy strung with glowing lights and the trees illuminated, turning the woodland into an atmospheric evening run. The whole thing takes about an hour and is suitable for ages 6 and over, with a minimum height of 1.2m.
It's pitched as an autumn night out for families, groups of friends or date nights, but there's a distinct split in the schedule. The general sessions run from Friday 16 October (16:15) through to Sunday 8 November (19:00), while the adults-only slots on Friday 16 and Friday 23 October run from 18:00 to 20:00 and are strictly for over-18s. If you're planning to bring the kids, you'll want to stick to the other dates.
The setting does a fair bit of the heavy lifting here. Itchen Valley Country Park covers 440 acres of water meadows, woodland and young trees, and the site also runs two daytime high-ropes experiences plus axe throwing. If you're not one for the heights, there's plenty of ground to cover around the park. On the safety front, Go Ape was recognised for the eighth year running as a leader in health and safety, receiving the RoSPA Gold Leisure Safety Award, the highest achievement in the UK's longest-running health and safety industry awards.
