Black Country duo Gans perform their high-energy post-punk and krautrock tunes at The Joiners as part of The Evolution Tour.
Gans play The Joiners on Thursday 1 October, part of their THE EVOLUTION tour. They're a duo from the Black Country, and they've described their sound as high-energy post punk and krautrock. If you're not familiar with the terms, that puts them in the territory of motorik beats and jagged guitar lines, and they're touring under the THE EVOLUTION banner, so this is a date on a proper run of shows rather than a one-off.
Coming from the Black Country, they're travelling down to Southampton for the night. The post punk side of things points to the angular, driving energy of the late seventies, while the krautrock label brings in those repetitive, hypnotic rhythms that the German scene built its name on. Together they make for a set that's more about the groove and the build than a standard verse-chorus structure, and they've billed it as high-energy, so it's the kind of thing that works best when you're standing up and close to the stage.
It's a duo, so there are only two of them on stage, and they're playing The Joiners on St Mary's Street, which is a proper small-room venue. That means you'll be right on top of the performance rather than watching from the back of a hall. The set is part of the THE EVOLUTION tour, so they're bringing the same show they've been taking across the country.
