Coyote vs. Acme is showing at Showcase Southampton on Saturday 26 September, with a morning screening at 09:30. It's the one we've been hearing about for a while, and it's finally hitting the big screen here in Southampton.
For anyone who knows the character, the premise is a bit of a twist on the usual formula. Wile E. Coyote — the 'Genius' himself — has spent decades being blown to bits by bombs, demolished by dynamite, mangled by magnets, and battered by boulders. He's been trampled by trains, tricked by tunnels, sprung by springs, steamrolled by steamrollers, and maligned by misfires. He's been devilled by bungees, rattled by rockets, backstabbed by bat suits, rocked by rocket skates, upended by unicycles, quaked by quake pills, rubberised by rogue bands, and hurled off every cliff in the Southwest. After all that, he finally decides to fight back.
He doesn't go it alone, though. He teams up with Kevin Avery, a billboard accident lawyer played by Will Forte, to take on Buddy Crane, the slick corporate counsel played by John Cena, and ACME, Inc. — the profit-obsessed conglomerate behind every one of the Coyote's chaotic catastrophes. It's a courtroom battle on a grand scale, with the Coyote finally getting his day in court against the company that's been supplying the explosives and the anvils for all those years.
