Comedian Caitlin Cook returns with a new comedy hour of songs, stories and projected visuals, built around her childhood theory that everyone has a superpower.
Caitlin Cook is at The Attic on Monday 5 October, bringing her new comedy hour The Hero We (Sort of) Need to Southampton. It's a full hour built around a theory she's had since childhood: that everyone has a superpower. The show carries that idea through new songs, stories and projected visuals, so it's not just stand-up in the usual sense.
Cook is a Brooklyn native who first made her name with The Writing on the Stall, a musical inspired by bathroom graffiti. This new hour is a fresh start, and the reviews she's picked up along the way give you a good feel for what she does. David Cross called her 'inventive and hilarious'; TheaterMania described her as 'delightfully irreverent, gleefully vulgar, slyly intellectual'; and the Edinburgh Fringe Travel Guide called the show 'a gem'.
Opening for her is A.J. Holmes, best known for playing Elder Cunningham in The Book of Mormon and as a founding member of Team StarKid. Between the two of them, you've got a night that leans as much on music and performance as it does on the jokes.
