An energetic music and movement activity for toddlers, babies and preschool children under five, with parents and carers, using instruments, ribbons and play parachutes.
Boogie in the Barn is back at Hanger Farm Arts Centre this October, with sessions running every Thursday morning throughout the month. It's a music and movement activity for toddlers, babies and preschool children under five, and you go along with them as a parent or carer.
The sessions take place inside Hanger Farm's converted 18th-century timber barn, and the music is the main thing. They work through nursery rhymes, popular family songs and world music, and the whole thing is paired with hands-on props for the kids to get stuck into: instruments, ribbons, play parachutes and bubbles. The structure is built to get them clapping, tapping, swaying and twirling, and it's designed to support their physical coordination, social confidence and creative expression.

Because it's a regular thing rather than a one-off, you can drop in once or make a habit of it. The sessions run on Thursday 8, 15, 22 and 29 October, all starting at 10:00. It's a morning slot, so it fits into the early part of the day when the little ones are usually at their most energetic. If you're bringing more than one child, the price drops for the second: the first child is £3 and the second is £2. You'll find Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Aikman Lane in West Totton, Southampton, SO40 8FT.
