Folk musician Beans on Toast performs live at Papillon, supporting his new album The Great Unravelling.
Beans on Toast plays Papillon in Southampton on Saturday 13 February, one of a run of intimate seated evenings he's taking across major UK cities. It's part of the tour for his nineteenth studio album, The Great Unravelling, which comes out on 1 December.
That record has a bit of a story to it. He recorded it in January on the banks of the Huon River in Tasmania, and it's played entirely on electric guitar. It features delicate slide guitar and backing vocals from the rising songwriter Nuala. After a grassroots trek through November and December, he's moving into these seated nights, where he'll mix new material from the album with some of his best-loved favourites.
Beans on Toast is a longstanding folk troubadour who's now up to nineteen studio albums, so there's a fair bit of back catalogue to draw from alongside the new songs. The set will pull from both ends of that, the new stuff from The Great Unravelling and the older songs that have become his regulars. The night is a seated one, so it's more of a listening room than a standing gig.

It's a Saturday night in February, and the venue is Papillon here in Southampton. If you're familiar with his work, it's a good chance to hear the new record live; if you're not, it's a decent place to start with a mix of the new and the old.
