Stand-up comedy and cabaret show by drag icon Baga Chipz on her autumn nationwide tour, featuring music and duets with Tanya Hyde.
Baga Chipz brings her autumn tour to Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Tuesday 8 September, with Bagz to Riches as the headline show. It's a stand-up comedy and cabaret night, and she's not coming alone: Tanya Hyde is back on stage with her.
Baga Chipz MBE is a RuPaul's Drag Race icon and an international drag superstar, nearly twenty years into showbusiness and described as the nation's most loveable tart. She frames Bagz to Riches as a love letter to the public that's supported her, built on unfiltered stand-up comedy, untold stories and music that runs through disco, power ballads, big band show tunes and musicals, with tributes to friends past and present. It's a wide-ranging set that mixes the talking with the singing, and the music takes up a good part of it.
That's where Tanya Hyde comes in. Hyde is a vocal powerhouse and Baga's long-time partner in crime, and the two have a twenty-year friendship between them. They've worked together before — Hyde was part of last year's tour, Chip Off the Old Block — and they'll be singing duets together again on this one. The songs they've picked run from ABBA to Bananarama and Wicked to Chicago, so the set covers pop, musical theatre and everything in between.
