The Wickham Garden Show Returns to Rookesbury Park

If you are looking for a relaxed weekend plan later this month, the Wickham Garden Show is returning to the Rookesbury Park Estate from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th July 2026. Located just outside Wickham on Southwick Road, this annual gathering brings together horticultural displays, local craft stalls, and family activities, making it a classic Hampshire summer outing. The historic estate itself adds plenty of character to the event, with the main rooms of the 1824 Rookesbury House hosting artisans, art, and design exhibitors, while the surrounding grounds provide a scenic backdrop for the outdoor stalls. It is a great opportunity to spend a day outdoors, whether you are a dedicated gardener or just looking for a pleasant day out with family and friends.

Across the three days, you can wander through displays of specialist plants, garden-related goods, and homeware, or browse the country foods and fashion accessories. There is a full schedule of daily talks and expert advice lined up to help you get your own garden in shape. If you are visiting with family, there is plenty to keep everyone entertained, with a mix of music and activities for all ages. The event also supports a good cause, with fundraising activities on-site benefiting the Winchester Hospice, which provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care to adults in Winchester and the surrounding villages.

While you are in the area, it is well worth making a full day of it by exploring the picturesque village of Wickham itself. Located in the Meon Valley, Wickham is centred on The Square, which is one of the largest in the country and features 15th-century and Georgian houses, independent shops, and tea rooms. You can stop by the historic Chesapeake Mill, a Grade II listed building built in 1820 that incorporates timber from the US Frigate Chesapeake. Today, it houses a unique shop filled with antiques, home furnishings, art, and jewellery, alongside a friendly tea room. If you prefer a quiet walk, you can head to the nearby Water Meadows, which offer eight acres of natural land with paths, benches, and a picnic area by the River Meon, or explore a section of the nine-mile Meon Valley Trail.

Planning your visit is straightforward, with free parking available on-site at Rookesbury Park. The gates open at 10am daily, closing at 5pm on Friday and Saturday (with last entry at 4pm), and at 4pm on Sunday (with last entry at 3pm). Tickets are cheaper if you book them in advance online. Pre-booked adult tickets are £11.90 (or £14 on the gate), concessions are £10.20 (or £12 on the gate), and children aged 5 to 15 are £4.25 (or £5 on the gate), while kids aged 4 and under get in for free. A family ticket for two adults and four children is £29.75 pre-booked or £35 on the gate. Just keep in mind that dogs are not allowed on the showground, except for assistance dogs, so you will need to leave your pets at home for this one.
