Oasis reunion film lands at Storyhouse in September

If you spent the better part of last year refreshing ticket pages and staring at a queue number that refused to move, there is a far calmer way to catch up on the Gallagher brothers' return. The documentary following the Oasis reunion tour, Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger, is landing in cinemas across Hampshire, and Southampton has its own set of screenings lined up.

The film is directed by Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern, the duo behind Shut Up and Play the Hits and Meet Me in the Bathroom, and it was written by Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders. It follows the Oasis Live '25 reunion tour, which ran 41 shows between July and November 2025, and has been described as an uplifting account of what many are calling the biggest musical event of 2025. The real draw, though, is the access: it pulls together rehearsal and backstage footage and features the first joint interview Liam and Noel Gallagher have given in over 20 years, their first time together after more than 15 years of estrangement.

In Southampton, Storyhouse Cinema is running screenings from Wednesday 9 to Saturday 12 September. The film clocks in at around two hours — listed as 125 minutes in some places and 122 in others — and carries a 15 certificate, so it is not one to bring younger children along to. Two of the sessions worth knowing about are the 6pm showing on Wednesday 9 September and the 3:30pm screening on Saturday 12 September, both starting from £11.40. On the usual pricing, tickets are £8.90 for members and £9.90 for non-members, with under-16s paying £6.75 for members and £7.50 for non-members, and a £5 Young Storyhouse Card option if you are on the cheaper end of that scale. The film is presented by Sony Music Vision in association with Sony Music Entertainment UK.

It is worth noting that the Southampton screenings sit right in the middle of the film's wider release. It has its world premiere out of competition at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival on 5 September, with the general theatrical release following on 11 September. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures is handling distribution, and Magna Studios, Sony Music Vision and Sony Music Entertainment UK are the production team behind it. If you cannot make the cinema window, it will eventually land on Disney+ internationally, and on Hulu and Disney+ in the United States, later in 2026.

Behind the scenes, the credits read like a proper production rather than a quick tour film. Steven Knight, born in Birmingham in 1959, is the executive producer and writer as well as the man behind Peaky Blinders, A Thousand Blows and House of Guinness. Haris Zambarloukos handled the cinematography and George Cragg and Martina Zamolo did the editing. For anyone who missed the tour or simply wants to see the Gallagher brothers in the same room again without the stress of a ticket queue, a couple of hours at Storyhouse in September is a far gentler way to take it all in.
