If you have been waiting for a drum and bass night that does not cost a small fortune, this is the one. Chase & Status are bringing a high-energy live show to Southampton on Thursday 29 October, and tickets are priced at £20. It is an outstore event tied to their new album, Generic Everything, which came out on 9 October, so the whole night is built around the new record.

The venue is EngineRooms on West Quay Road, Southampton's largest independent grassroots music and entertainment space. It holds up to 1,000 people, though it usually works with crowds of 400 to 800, which is about the right size for a night like this. Doors open at 20:00 and the duo are scheduled to take the stage at 21:00, so there is a full hour to get in and settle before things kick off. If you are coming by train, Southampton Central is the nearest station, which makes getting in and out fairly straightforward.
There are two ways to buy tickets, both through Warner Records. The £20 option bundles a ticket with a standard CD of Generic Everything, while a ticket-only option is also available if you already have the album or would rather skip the disc. It is worth knowing the age policy before you commit: the event is for 16 and over, and anyone under 18 needs to be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or older who also holds a ticket, so it is not a night to bring younger siblings unless you have the cover sorted.
For anyone who has not kept up with them lately, Chase & Status have been active since 2003 and are managed by MTA Records. Saul Milton and Will Kennard have spent the last couple of years firmly back at the top of the charts, with Baddadan spending more than 15 weeks in the UK Top 10 and going Platinum. Backbone, featuring Stormzy, went to number one, and they picked up a Brit Award for Producer of the Year in 2024. Generic Everything is a ten-track album that leans hard into that same crossover appeal, with collaborations from J Hus, Little Simz, Skrillex, Giggs, D Double E, Blanco, IRAH and Col3trane, blending rave, rap, soundsystem culture and electronic music.
That mix is exactly what the live show is built on, so expect a set that pulls from both the new material and the older tracks that have become staples of their sets. Between the £20 price tag and the venue, it is one of the more accessible nights on the calendar for anyone who wants a proper night out without the usual festival or arena price tag attached. If you have been meaning to catch them live, a mid-week show at a grassroots venue like EngineRooms is about as easy as it gets.
