Southampton's record shop scene is about to get a proper moment. The Big Moon, the London indie-rock band formed in 2014 around frontwoman Juliette Jackson, are bringing their sound to Vinilo on Sunday 1 November, as part of a nine-date acoustic in-store tour. It is an intimate way to catch a band that usually fills much larger rooms, and it comes at a meaningful point in their story.

The tour is built around their fourth album, Forever, which lands on Friday 30 October through Fiction Records. The record carries a heavy personal weight: it was written after Juliette Jackson was diagnosed with a cholesteatoma in 2024, an operation for which left her with permanent hearing loss in one ear. That history sits behind a tracklist that includes Gravity, the album's lead single, alongside Three Things, Fun, F.O.R.E.V.E.R, Sounds, You Remind Me That I'm Dying (and that it's good to be alive), Speed Bump, Can I Get A Reading Please, I See You, Honey, and Chill. Hearing any of that stripped back to an acoustic set is a different proposition from the full-band version.
Because this is an in-store show, it doubles as a signing, so you get to meet the band as well as hear them. Tickets are handled through See Tickets and delivered by email to the address you use at checkout, with e-tickets typically arriving around 48 hours before the gig, so there is no need to rush to collect anything in person. The full line-up is the one you know: Juliette Jackson on lead vocals, guitar and composition, Soph Nathan on guitar and vocals, Celia Archer on bass and vocals, and Fern Ford on drums.
Vinilo is a fitting place for it. The shop has been trading in Southampton since 2017, selling vinyl, CDs, dinked editions, new releases and pre-orders, and it has built a reputation on hosting live music, album launches and artist signings. Its in-store events are all ages unless stated otherwise, which makes this an easy one to bring younger fans along to. If you are only coming for the music, the shop also ships free within the UK on orders over £150, so there is plenty to browse before or after the set.
For anyone who has followed them from the start, the context is worth knowing. The Big Moon have come a long way since their debut EP The Road and the single Cupid in 2016, with albums Love in the 4th Dimension, Walking Like We Do and Here Is Everything all coming before Forever. They have supported the likes of the Pixies, The Maccabees, Ezra Furman and The Vaccines, and their songs have turned up on everything from Grey's Anatomy to Fighting with My Family. This acoustic tour is the quieter chapter before the wider UK headline tour, which opens in Birmingham on 18 November and winds up with their biggest show to date at London's O2 Academy Brixton on 27 November. Catching them at Vinilo first is the more relaxed way to do it.
