Solo folk concert by fiddle player and singer Jon Boden, of Bellowhead, with fiddle, guitar, concertina and stompbox.
Jon Boden plays Crookes Social Club on Sunday 21 February, as part of his A Folk Song A Day Tour 2027. It's a solo show, presented by Blue Amberol Promotions, and it's one of the dates he's taking across the country this year.
If you've come across him through Bellowhead, you'll know him as their lead singer and arranger. On his own, he works with traditional English folk songs and things he's written himself, and he handles the accompaniment on his own: fiddle, guitar, concertina, and his trademark stompbox for the low end. It's a one-man set, so the songs are carried by his voice and whatever instrument he's reached for that moment.
He's a well-known name in the folk world, with eleven BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards to his credit, and this tour is built around that same tradition of English song. The set is for all ages, and under-16s need to be accompanied by an adult, so it's a night that works as well for a family as it does for anyone who just wants to hear a singer with a fiddle.
