If you have spent any time on the internet over the last decade, you have almost certainly come across Jonathan Pie. The character, created by comedian Tom Walker, first appeared in 2015 as a perpetually exasperated political reporter, and he has spent the years since skewering the British political class with a level of fury that is as much part of the act as the satire itself. His latest show, 'The End Of The World According To Jonathan Pie', lands at Sheffield City Hall on Wednesday 4 November, with the curtain going up at 19:30.

The show is billed as sharp, chaotic political satire that takes on the apocalypse, and it pulls together everything Pie has learned since the character was born out of the political chaos of the mid-2010s. The subject matter is deliberately wide-ranging: climate collapse, AI, the culture wars and the looming threat of global conflict all get the Pie treatment. A good part of the comedy comes from Pie coming to terms with having voted for the Labour government he now hates, while he simultaneously takes aim at the rise of the far-right and the influence of tech billionaires. There is a co-host involved too, an AI named Audrey who keeps Pie to a 'no swearing, no politics' contract, which is about as effective as you would imagine.
It is worth remembering that the man behind the character is a working comedian with a fair bit of experience. Tom Walker has appeared on the BBC, CNN and Australia's Studio 10, and this is not his first tour by far. He has previously taken 'Back To The Studio' out in 2018, 'Fake News' in 2019 and 'Jonathan Pie – Heroes & Villains' across 2023 and 2024. The 2026 tour is his most pointed yet, turning its attention to the Labour government of Keir Starmer, the rise of the far-right led by Reform and the ongoing climate crisis.
The venue is as much a part of the evening as the show. Sheffield City Hall is a Grade II listed building run by Sheffield International Venues, sitting at Barker's Pool in the city centre, and the performance takes place in the Oval Hall, which holds 2,271 people in theatre seating. If you need any help getting in, the venue has a dedicated accessibility team that can arrange wheelchair and accessible positions, and they also cover assistance dogs, visual or hearing impairments and BSL interpreters, so it is worth getting in touch ahead of time if you have specific requirements.
Tickets are being sold through Ticketmaster, so if you want to be in the room when Pie works himself into another state over the state of the country, it is worth sorting yours sooner rather than later. It is a show that asks where we go from here, and it does so with the same frantic energy that has made the character a fixture of British political comedy for over a decade. Whether you agree with the politics or just enjoy watching someone lose their temper at the news, it is a safe bet for a night of sharp, unapologetic satire.
