A one-day workshop for middle and high school students to explore careers in theatre through behind-the-scenes tours, professional conversations and hands-on activities.
Seattle Repertory Theatre is opening its doors to middle and high school students on Friday, October 9, for the Young Rep Workshop: Insider Experience. It's a one-day program that takes you behind the scenes of one of the city's major regional theaters, which sits right at Seattle Center and belongs to both Theatre Puget Sound and the Theatre Communications Group.
The day is built around getting a look at how a professional theater actually runs. You'll get tours of the building, conversations with people working in the industry, and hands-on activities that touch on the artistic, technical, administrative, and leadership roles that keep a production moving. It's designed to show students the range of careers available in theater beyond just what happens on stage.

If you know a middle or high schooler who's curious about theater, this is a good way for them to see the machinery from the inside. The workshop runs on Friday, October 9, at the Seattle Rep, located at 155 Mercer St in Seattle. Tickets are $95, and scholarships are available if that's a barrier. One practical detail to keep in mind: participants are asked to bring their own lunch.
