Seattle band Weep Wave performs live at the Conor Byrne Pub, marking a new chapter with their album 'Speck'.
Weep Wave are back at Conor Byrne Pub on Sunday, November 1, with Gadfly and Buddy Wynkoop opening. It's a midday show, starting at 1:20 PM, so you'll be out and home long before dinner.
They're playing in the wake of a new album, Speck, which they're using to mark a new chapter for the band. It was produced by Dylan Wall at Hills Studio here in Seattle and mastered by Jack Endino—the same guy who worked with Mudhoney, Nirvana, Soundgarden, L7, and Mark Lanegan. You can find it on vinyl, CD, and streaming, and it's paired with a visual album on their YouTube channel if you want to see the songs as well as hear them.
Weep Wave are Seattle regulars led by Dylan Fuentes, with Mitch Midkiff on bass and Miles Hubbard on drums. Their sound pulls from a few different places—post-punk, electro dance, garage, and surfy psych—so the set usually moves between those moods rather than sticking to one. They've shared stages with Jack White, Gustaf, Pup, Fat Dog, Los Bitchos, Godcaster, Blackwater Holylight, Destroy Boys, White Reaper, Habibi, The Bobby Lees, and ReignWolf, and have played PNW festivals like Capitol Hill Block Party, Treefort Music Festival, Freakout Fest, Fisherman's Village Music Festival, South Sound Block Party, and Off Beat Music Fest. They've also recorded a KEXP session and just got back from their first international tour in Japan.
