Men's basketball game between the Washington Huskies and the Baylor Bears at Climate Pledge Arena, headlining the inaugural Seattle Holiday Classic.
Baylor and Washington face off at Climate Pledge Arena on Saturday, December 19, in a non-conference matchup that headlines the first-ever Seattle Holiday Classic. It's a double bill, not a single game: Washington State and Seattle U play at the same arena that same night, and one ticket gets you into both. If you're a basketball fan, that's two games for the price of one in a single evening.
Washington head coach Danny Sprinkle described the Baylor game as a high-level, resume-building non-conference matchup against an elite opponent in a world-class venue. He also said he hopes the Holiday Classic becomes a great basketball tradition here in Seattle. It's the kind of game that counts when the season starts to tighten up, and having it as part of a double bill makes it a full night of hoops rather than just a couple of hours.
Climate Pledge Arena, at Seattle Center, is the complete redevelopment of the historic landmark built for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. It opened on October 19, 2021, is owned by One Roof Sports & Entertainment and operated by Oak View Group, and serves as home to the Seattle Kraken, the Seattle Storm, and the Seattle Torrent. It's a familiar spot for most of us by now, but it's still a big stage for a college game.

For the Huskies, this comes early in their season. Their 20-game Big Ten slate splits evenly between home and away, and the season runs from December through March. The Baylor game is one of the few non-conference dates on the calendar before the Big Ten schedule takes over. The double bill is on December 19 at Climate Pledge Arena, with Washington vs. Baylor and Washington State vs. Seattle U.
