Warren Dunes present their new EP 'The Cottage Sounds, Vol. 2: Warren Dunes - Growing Up' in a live performance with support from Litvar.
Warren Dunes play The Rabbit Box Theatre on Tuesday, October 13, with Litvar opening. It's an EP release show for The Cottage Sounds, Vol. 2: Warren Dunes - Growing Up, so the new material will be front and center.
If you're not familiar, Warren Dunes is a power-trio family band led by keyboardist and vocalist Julia Massey, who plays alongside her husband Jared Cortese and her brother-in-law Dominic Cortese. They describe their sound as tropicalia-infused indie rock or "post-modern beach music," and they've said it's inspired by the Salish Sea around Seattle. The band's name comes from a state park in southwest Michigan where Jared and Dominic spent their youth.
Massey started writing and recording as a student at the University of Colorado in Boulder, later moved to Brooklyn and then to Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, where she formed Julia Massey & The Five Discount with Dom Cortese. The trio itself started in 2017, inspired by their two-year-old son's love of Harry Belafonte. Their debut LP Get Well Soon and 2024's Aquamarine were both voted among KEXP listeners' Top 50 Albums, and in 2026 the band received a Sonic Guild grant.
