Concert featuring the alternative and shoegaze band Nothing, alongside Turnover and Trauma Ray at The Showbox.
Nothing plays The Showbox on Tuesday, November 17, with Turnover and Trauma Ray on the bill. It's a three-band night, so you'll get a full evening of music rather than just one set.
Nothing comes from Philadelphia, and their sound sits right at the intersection of alternative and shoegaze. They're known for playing loud, and the band describes that volume as coming from the difficulty of real life and personal experience, rather than a preoccupation with negativity or misanthropy. If you're familiar with shoegaze, you know the drill: walls of guitar and a lot of atmosphere, and that's what they bring to the stage.
Sharing the bill is Turnover, who formed in Virginia Beach in 2009. They've toured North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan across three full-length albums. Frontman Austin Getz describes their 2024 record, Good Nature, as being about learning and growth, and he points to vintage Southern soul, blues, bossa nova, cool jazz, and psychedelic grooves as the things they drew on for it. To put it together, they reunited with longtime producer Will Yip.
