A members-only night featuring letterpress printing with local artists, art trivia, and social time at The Studio at SAM.
The Studio at SAM is hosting another Member Night on Thursday, October 8, from 4 to 8 PM on the fourth floor of the Seattle Art Museum. It's one of those nights where the museum turns its fourth floor into an open studio, and if you're a SAM member, you get the whole space to yourself. The Studio is the museum's art lovers' club, and these nights run from October through December on second Thursdays.
For this one, the print shop is the center of things. Damon Brown and Erin Shigaki will be running letterpress printing from 4 to 8 PM, and you can watch them work, ask questions, and run your own print to take home. Each month features a different local print artist, and the prints are created in partnership with Partners in Print. The Studio is presented by Microsoft.
While the print shop is going, the lounge is where the other stuff happens: music, artist talks, and family activities. From 6 to 7:30 PM, Scott Stulen will be leading art trivia, so there's a good window to hang out and chat before that kicks off. The whole point of Member Night is to experience art together, and since it's members-only, you've got the studio to yourself.
