Members-only evening with printmaking, live music, and performances at Seattle Art Museum.
The Studio at SAM is hosting its monthly Member Night at the Seattle Art Museum on Thursday, October 8, from 4 to 8 PM. If you're a SAM member, the whole fourth floor is yours for the evening: you get a free drink and the studio all to yourself. The rest of the time, the Studio runs as an open workspace where you can watch artists at work, ask them questions, and make your own prints in the shop. Each month a new artist takes over the print shop, and visitors can run a print to take home. The lounge side of things runs weekly, with artist talks and family activities mixed in.
The featured artist this month is Fulgencio Lazo, a Zapotec painter and printmaker whose tapete installation is on view from October 3, 2026, through January 11, 2027. Lazo is a long-time cultural organizer in Seattle's Latino community, and he helped establish Día de los Muertos celebrations at SAM more than 30 years ago. His tapete is the 32nd annual installation of its kind, so it's a tradition that's been running at the museum for over three decades.

Member Night falls on the second Thursday of the month, which is when the lounge programs shift to a members-only format. The Studio is on the museum's fourth floor, and admission is included with your museum ticket. The night runs from 4 to 8 PM, so you've got a good window to hang out, grab your drink, and see Lazo's work.
