The Seattle Symphony performs Hans Zimmer's score alongside the film The Ring in a live concert presentation, conducted by Wesley Schulz.
The Seattle Symphony is bringing The Ring to Benaroya Hall for a live-to-film presentation on Thursday, October 29, and Friday, October 30. The movie plays on the big screen while the orchestra performs Hans Zimmer's score live in the room, so you're hearing the music as it happens rather than from a recording.
If you haven't seen it, The Ring is a modern horror story that was partially shot right here in Seattle. It follows journalist Rachel Keller, played by Naomi Watts, who gets her hands on a mysterious videocassette that carries a death sentence: anyone who watches it dies a week later. Zimmer's score is known for being haunting, and hearing it played by a full orchestra in person changes the whole experience.
Conductor Wesley Schulz is leading the Seattle Symphony for this one. It's an orchestra with a lot of history behind itβNPR has called them one of the most vital American orchestras, and they're well known for their inventive programming and community initiatives. They've put out more than 150 recordings on their own Seattle Symphony Media label, which has earned five Grammy Awards and 26 nominations, along with two Emmy Awards. In 2018, Gramophone named them Orchestra of the Year.
