The Dillinger Escape Plan live at Neptune Theatre, with doors at 7pm and the show at 8pm.
The Dillinger Escape Plan play the Neptune Theatre on Tuesday, October 27, with SQUID PISSER opening. It's a mathcore bill in the U-District, and if you've never seen them live, it's a good place to start.
For those who know the name but not the sound, The Dillinger Escape Plan are a mathcore band from Morris Plains, New Jersey. They're known for a fast-tempo, technically proficient style and for live shows that have incorporated light shows, fireworks, fire breathing and other special effects. The music is built on shifting time signatures and jagged, complex arrangements—the kind of stuff that keeps you on your toes rather than letting you settle into a groove.
The band's origins go back to a hardcore group called Arcane, managed by Tom Apostolopoulos and guitarist Ben Weinman. They recorded their first EP, Under the Running Board, with Relapse Records in 1997, and followed it with the acclaimed 1999 album Calculating Infinity. When vocalist Dimitri Minakakis left in 2000, they brought in Greg Puciato, who sang on the 2004 album Miss Machine and 2007's Ire Works. Guitarist Ben Weinman and former drummer Chris Pennie have been present in many of the lineups over the years.
