Harmony duo The Cactus Blossoms perform live at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle, supported by Dvin Champlin.
The Cactus Blossoms play Tractor Tavern on Friday, November 20, with Dvin Champlin opening. The set starts at 8:30 PM at 5213 Ballard Ave NW in Seattle.
If you're not familiar, The Cactus Blossoms are a harmony duo made up of brothers Jack Torrey and Page Burkum, who hail from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The core of their sound has always been those two voices locked in tight harmony, and that's still the center of the thing. But on their latest release, Every Time I Think About You, they've expanded into a full band. Jeremy Hanson is on drums, Jacob Hanson on guitar, and Phillip Hicks on bass, and that fuller arrangement is what you'll hear live—the duo's harmonies backed by a rhythm section rather than just the two of them.
It's a good way to get a sense of where they're at right now. The new material is the focus, and having the full band on stage gives those songs the same weight they have on the record. If you've only heard the earlier, more stripped-back stuff, this is a different version of the band: still the same voices, just with a bigger sound behind them. Dvin Champlin opens the night, so there's a full bill before the headliner takes over.
