Blues legend Taj Mahal performs his residency at Jazz Alley, supported by The Taj Mahal Quartet.
Taj Mahal is playing a residency at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley in Seattle, running from Thursday, November 19, through Sunday, November 29. It's a long stretch of dates rather than a single night, so you've got plenty of options for when to catch him.
Taj Mahal is the stage name of Henry Saint Clair Fredericks, a blues musician from Springfield, Massachusetts. He's a self-taught singer-songwriter who plays guitar, banjo, and harmonica, and he's spent more than four decades expanding the blues by blending it with sounds from the Caribbean, Africa, and the South Pacific. Now 84, he's a five-time Grammy winner and the recipient of the Recording Academy's 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award. He's also an inductee of the Blues Hall of Fame and an honoree of the Americana Music Association, and rock icons like Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones have described him as a god.
For this residency, he's performing as The Taj Mahal Quartet, with bassist Bill Rich, percussionist and drummer Tony Durham, and keyboardist and organist Jim Pugh. The residency is supported by KNKX, and all sets are open to all ages.
