Nine-person a cappella group Straight No Chaser plays holiday classics from their album 'Holiday Road' on its Making Spirits Bright Tour.
Straight No Chaser are playing The Paramount Theatre on Thursday, November 19, as part of their Making Spirits Bright tour. It's an a cappella holiday concert, and the whole thing is done with voices alone—no instruments on stage. The set draws from their album Holiday Road and a mix of holiday classics, and the sound is built on tight vocal harmonies, humorous banter, and rhythmic vocal percussion and basslines created entirely by voice.
Straight No Chaser is a nine-person all-male group that formed at Indiana University in the mid-1990s. They've since become a forefront act of the modern a cappella movement, and they recently celebrated their 25th anniversary. Signed to Atlantic Records, they've sold more than three million albums and 1.5 million tickets, and their albums Holiday Spirits and Christmas Cheers are RIAA Gold Certified. This stop is one date in a 62-show fall run, a tour that comes with more than 100 million YouTube views and over a billion streams.
The lineup on stage is Walter Chase, Jerome Collins, Seggie Isho, Michael Luginbill, Steve Morgan, Luke Bob Robinson, Jasper Smith, Tyler Trepp, and Freedom Young. For some, this is a family tradition: member Seggie Isho has noted that families return year after year, with children growing up and bringing their own children. The Paramount Theatre, a historic 1928 landmark, is their Seattle home for the night.
