Indie rock band Slow Pulp performs live at The Showbox in Seattle, with support from Snuggle.
Slow Pulp play The Showbox on Saturday, October 24, with Snuggle opening. It's their first Seattle date in a while, and they'll be touring their third album, Melodie, which came out September 18 on ANTI.
Slow Pulp is a Wisconsin-bred, Chicago-based four-piece that formed in the mid-2010s. Singer and guitarist Emily Massey met childhood friends Henry Stoehr on guitar, Alex Leeds on bass, and Teddy Mathews on drums. Stoehr and Mathews went to elementary school together in Madison and met Leeds at the now-closed Good'nLoud Music program; Massey joined later at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Raised on '90s alt-rock and the 2000s indie wave, the band moved to Chicago in 2018.
Their debut, Moveys, came out in 2020 after a period when Massey recorded vocals at home while caring for her parents. Their second, Yard, followed in 2022 as their first for ANTI. It was shaped by synesthetic imagery and the tension of feelings hard to name, written partly at a cabin in northern Wisconsin after she contracted Lyme disease and chronic mono. Since then, they've toured with the Pixies, Death Cab for Cutie, and Alvvays. Melodie is their third full-length, and this show will be one of the first times they play it live.
