Literary presentation and documentary screening with Mirta Ojito and Kerry Sanders, hosted by Dr. Paloma Martinez-Carbajo, presented by the Seattle Latino Film Festival.
SLFF Presents — A Literary Presentation & Documentary comes to Hugo House on Wednesday, October 14, as part of the Seattle Latino Film Festival's 18th edition. The evening is built around bringing literature and documentary into the same room, with a literary presentation and a documentary screening sharing the bill. The whole program runs about three hours.
On stage are Mirta Ojito, a Pulitzer Prize and Emmy Award winner, and producer Kerry Sanders, an Emmy and duPont Award-winning journalist. Dr. Paloma Martínez-Carbajo hosts the evening, and the two guests bring their work to the room from two different angles: Ojito from the literary side and Sanders from the documentary side. The festival presents it as a way of seeing those two formats—the written word and the filmed image—sit side by side in one session.

The event takes place in the Richard Hugo House Auditorium at Hugo House, 1634 11th Avenue in Seattle. Doors open at 6 PM, and the program starts at 7 PM. Admission is free, though donations are suggested. Between the presentation and the screening, it's a long evening, so keep that three-hour runtime in mind if you're planning your night.
