Concert by the dark-alternative duo She Wants Revenge, supported by Rosegarden Funeral Party, at The Showbox.
She Wants Revenge play The Showbox on Wednesday, October 14, with Rosegarden Funeral Party opening. It's a mid-week show, so you'll want to plan for it.
If you're coming to this one, you probably know the name from 'Tear You Apart,' the 2005 hit that put them on the map. The duo started as Justin Warfield and Adam Bravin, two producers making songs to DJ in clubs before they signed to Geffen and put out their self-titled debut, which sold over 300,000 copies. From there, they spent years opening for acts like Bloc Party, The Kills, OKGO, Depeche Mode, The Psychedelic Furs, and Placebo, and they headlined Coachella alongside Daft Punk. The early years also gave us the 2007 album This Is Forever, the EPs Save Your Soul (2008) and Up and Down (2009), and 2011's Valleyheart. As for what they're pulling from, they've cited Prince, Tangerine Dream, ELO, Giorgio Moroder, and 90s hip-hop as influences.
There was a long gap after that, though. They went on an indefinite hiatus in 2012, and they didn't come back until 2016, when Lady Gaga featured 'Tear You Apart' in the premiere of American Horror Story. That spark brought them back together, and they've been active since. They returned in 2022 with a revamped lineup and put out their fourth album in 2024βthe same year a deep cut from Up and Down went viral on TikTok. So if you're seeing them now, you're catching them in a different era than the one that first broke through.
