Concert by Colombian singer-songwriter Santiago Cruz, known for romantic ballads and introspective tracks, at the intimate Ballard Homestead venue.
Santiago Cruz plays Ballard Homestead on Saturday, October 10, at 7:30 PM. The Colombian singer-songwriter has been at it for over 20 years and has six Latin Grammy nominations to his name. He's known for romantic ballads and introspective tracks like "Desde Lejos," and his live shows are built around raw emotion and a powerful vocal delivery.
Cruz comes from Ibagué, Colombia, where he grew up and served his mandatory military year with the VI Brigada del Ejército. He later moved to Bogotá and graduated from the Universidad Externado de Colombia with a degree in Finance and International Relations. His early career was a real grind: he played serenades, bars, 15th-birthday parties, TV novelas, and even a funeral, and at one point he ran his own bar. He released two albums, Solo hasta hoy in 2003 and Sentidos in 2006, and has shared the stage with Alejandro Sanz, Pablo Milanés, Miguel Bosé, Fito Páez, and Franco de Vita. He's also a UN Goodwill Ambassador.
