Concert by Sammy Rae & The Friends, a collective blending classic rock, folk, funk, soul and jazz, with special guest Melt.
Sammy Rae & The Friends bring their the GET DOWN! tour to Showbox SoDo on Sunday, October 11, with special guest Melt opening the night. The headliner is a collective fronted by singer-songwriter Sammy Rae, whose sound pulls from classic rock, folk, funk, soul and jazz. It's a wide reach, and the band's discography reflects that: they put out the EPs The Good Life in 2018 and Let's Throw a Party in 2021, followed by their debut full-length, Something For Everybody, in 2024. There's a new album in the works, too, so the set will likely pull from the early EPs, the debut, and maybe a few things yet to be released.
Rae moved to New York City from Connecticut in her early twenties and built the group around friends, and that's how they describe the whole thing — the audience is invited to become part of the family. They've played major festivals like Bonnaroo's main stage, Sound on Sound and All Things Go, so this is a professional outfit that knows how to work a room.
