Exhibition of contemporary original works by Northwest artists Jueun Shin and Stephen Rock at the SAM Gallery.
Jueun Shin and Stephen Rock open a joint exhibition at SAM Gallery on Wednesday, November 4, and it runs through Sunday, November 29. The show is titled Motion, and it's the latest in the gallery's regular rotation of Northwest artists.
If you're not familiar with the space, SAM Gallery is the Seattle Art Museum's art sales and rental gallery. It's on the street level of the museum, on 1st Avenue between Union and University Streets, so you don't have to go through the main museum galleries to get to it. It shows contemporary original work by Northwest artists—paintings, drawings, mixed-media pieces, limited-edition prints, and photographs—and it's been supporting artists from the region for 50 years. The gallery runs regular shows and opening receptions where you can meet the artists and see new work firsthand.
For SAM members, there's a 'Rent before you buy' program that lets you live with a piece for three months before deciding whether to purchase it. If you've been wanting to start collecting but aren't sure about a specific work, that's a low-stakes way to see how it fits in your own space before you commit.
