Film screening of Point Break (1991) directed by Kathryn Bigelow, part of the 'Excellent Adventures: Celebrating Keanu Reeves' series at the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
SAM Films is screening Point Break at the Seattle Asian Art Museum on Friday, October 9, from 7 PM to 9:30 PM. The film is Kathryn Bigelow's 1991 action classic, and it's part of a larger series the museum is running through the fall.
Point Break follows a gang of bank robbers who call themselves "The Ex-Presidents" and commit their crimes wearing masks of Reagan, Carter, Nixon and Johnson. The FBI sends young agent Johnny Utah undercover to the beach to mix in with the surfers and gather information on them. It's a movie that works as much as a crime thriller as it does a study of the strange bond that forms between the law and the people they're chasing.
The screening is part of "Excellent Adventures: Celebrating Keanu Reeves," a series that runs from September through November 2026 and presents eight of the actor's most iconic and diverse roles across Friday nights. The whole series is made possible by the Brooks and Suzanne Ragen Film Endowment. SAM Films generally brings ideas from the museum's exhibitions, collections and programs to the big screen, showing them in themed series, as one-off events and as part of local film festivals.
