Salt-N-Pepa headline the Icons of Pop Culture Gala at MOPOP, celebrating their legacy as hip-hop pioneers with a performance at the museum's Sky Church.
Salt-N-Pepa are playing Sky Church at MOPOP on Thursday, October 22, their only Pacific Northwest performance of the year. Cheryl 'Salt' James, Sandra 'Pepa' Denton, and Deidra 'DJ Spinderella' Roper are the night's music honorees, with Spinderella on the decks.
The set is part of the Icons of Pop Culture Gala, MOPOP's biggest night of the year, which honors visionaries across film, fashion, gaming, music, and community. Salt-N-Pepa headline as the 2026 Music Icon, and the gala also recognizes Bruce Lee, Jeremy Scott, Halo, and the Wing Luke Museum. Every ticket supports the museum's future exhibitions, youth education programs, and community initiatives.
It's a fitting spot for them. Salt-N-Pepa changed the trajectory of hip-hop with sharp lyricism, undeniable chemistry, and a boundary-pushing style that redefined who could take center stage. They were the first female rap group to achieve a platinum certification, their fourth album, Very Necessary, earned them a Grammy, and they've been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This is their only Northwest date of the year, and it's in an intimate venue rather than a large hall.
