The 13th edition of the Romanian Film Festival, with the theme 'Beyond Borders', screening Romanian comedies and dramas.
The Romanian Film Festival returns to SIFF Cinema Uptown from November 13 to 15, 2026, marking its 13th edition in Seattle. This year's theme is Beyond Borders, and the program brings together Romanian comedies and dramas.
It's a festival with some history behind it. It launched in 2014 to introduce Romanian cinema to American audiences, including the Romanian diaspora here in Washington State, and has grown over the last decade into one of the most significant events of its kind on the West Coast. It serves as a platform for the latest internationally awarded Romanian films, and it's also a place for Romanian filmmakers, directors, actors, and producers to attend and engage with US audiences.
This year's theme, Beyond Borders, looks at the lines that define our world—marked, as the organizers put it, by the scars of struggle and brightened by the laughter of lived experiences. That's a good way to frame what you'll see: a mix of comedies and dramas that pull from both sides of that coin.

On the organizing side, the Cultural Association Control N, based in Romania, has joined ARCS as co-organizer for the third consecutive year, continuing to act as a bridge between Romanian filmmakers and the American public. The festival runs from Friday, November 13, through Sunday, November 15, at SIFF Cinema Uptown in Seattle.
