Poor Man's Whiskey performs their bluegrass interpretation of Pink Floyd, 'Dark Side of the Moonshine', with The High Seagrass.
Poor Man's Whiskey play Hidden Hall on Saturday, October 24, with The High Seagrass opening. The night centers on Dark Side of the Moonshine, their bluegrass interpretation of Pink Floyd's classic album.
Poor Man's Whiskey is a quintet from the San Francisco Bay Area that describes its sound as "High Octane Hootenanny" music—the kind of show where you dance, laugh and sing along. They built their following on an eclectic, engaging sound and a reputation for upbeat performances, zany stage antics and infectious songs that weave tales of everyday life while blending acoustic and electric instruments. The band has released three studio albums: Train to California (2003), Roadside Attraction (2005) and Dark Side of the Moonshine (2009), a double disc set that pairs original music with the bluegrass take on Pink Floyd.
Over the years, they've played the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Kate Wolf Music Festival, The Fillmore in San Francisco, the Harmony and Strawberry Music Festivals and The Great American Music Hall. The lineup consists of David Noble, George Smeltz, Josh Brough, Jason Beard and Murph Murphy.
