Big band jazz concert featuring the pH Factor Big Band, the Everett High School Jazz band, and Megan Vinther at The Royal Room.
pH Factor Big Band plays The Royal Room on Thursday, October 15, with the Everett High School Jazz band joining them on stage. The pH Factor bills itself as Seattle's most interesting big band, known for an exciting and challenging repertoire and for drawing excellent local players. It's a large ensemble, so there's a lot of brass and reed work to hear in one night.
The evening also puts the spotlight on the Everett High School instrumental music program. Under the direction of music educator Megan Vinther, the program runs concert bands, jazz bands, and percussion ensembles within the Everett Public Schools district, following Washington Music Educators Association standards. The high school jazz band will be sharing the bill, so you'll get to hear the student players alongside the professional big band.
The Royal Room is a Seattle venue built to serve performing musicians and artists. It's equipped with a permanent backline, recording and video gear, a grand piano, and a generous stage—the kind of setup that makes it easy for a large group like a big band to stretch out without feeling cramped.
