Jazz concert featuring the virtuoso guitarist Oz Noy with Dave Weckl on drums and Brian Charette on organ at The Triple Door.
Oz Noy brings his trio to The Triple Door on Wednesday, November 18, and Thursday, November 19, with both shows starting at 7:30 PM. He's on guitar, with Brian Charette on organ and Dave Weckl on drums. It's a two-night run, so you've got a couple of chances to catch them.
Noy is an Israeli-born guitarist who describes his music as jazz that "just doesn't sound like it," a blend of jazz, funk, rock, blues, and R&B. He started playing professionally at 13, and by 16 he was performing with top Israeli musicians. By 24 he'd become one of the country's most established studio guitarists, spending more than two years as a house band on Israel's top-rated TV show. He moved to New York in 1996 and has made a major impact on the local and international scenes since, recording for Abstract Logix and playing with drummers like Keith Carlock, Anton Fig, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Dave Weckl himself, and bassists Will Lee, James Genus, and Reggie Washington.
His debut record Oz Live came out in 2003, followed by the studio album HA! in 2005. Guitar Player magazine readers voted him "Best guitar riff on a record" in 2007, "Best new talent" in 2008, and "Best out there guitar player" in 2013.
