First national tour of the Olivier and Tony Award-winning musical about the secret WWII mission that helped turn the tide of the war.
Operation Mincemeat opens at The 5th Avenue Theatre on February 10, 2027, and runs through February 21. It's the musical's first national tour, co-presented by The 5th Avenue Theatre Company and Seattle Theatre Group as part of the venue's 2026/27 season.
The show is set in 1943 across the United Kingdom and the coast of Spain, and it tells the true story of the secret mission that helped win World War II. The plot centers on how a dead body, a fake love letter, and Ian Fleming came together to wrong-foot Hitler. It's a fast-paced, funny account of a real piece of wartime history, and critics have pitched it as the meeting of Singin' in the Rain and Strangers on a Train.
It arrives in Seattle with a heavy pedigree behind it. The production won an Olivier Award for Best New Musical and a 2025 Tony, and it was named the #1 Broadway Show of 2025 by Entertainment Weekly. It's also been called the best-reviewed show in West End history, with 88 five-star reviews. The book, music, and lyrics are by David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Natasha Hodgson, and Zoë Roberts; Robert Hastie directs, and Jenny Arnold handles the choreography. It's produced by a long list of names, including Avalon, Jon Thoday, Richard Allen-Turner, and Concord Theatricals.
