A fantasy-themed scavenger hunt where teams solve quests and solve problems in the Capitol Hill neighbourhood, presented by One Shot Seattle.
One Shot Seattle is bringing a fantasy scavenger hunt to Cal Anderson Park on Saturday, October 10, starting at 10 AM. It's run by 'The Emerald City King,' and the day is pitched as a series of quests for adventurers rather than a straightforward city walk. The whole thing is aimed squarely at D&D fans, bookworms, geeks and nerds, though the fantasy world theming is just a wrapper: you don't need any special pop-culture or literature knowledge to play.
Teams of two to six gather at Cal Anderson Park in Capitol Hill and then roam the neighborhood, solving fantasy problems along the way. You might help a group of mermaids who have lost their voices, gather ingredients for a witch's potion, or stop a troll terrorizing a village. The experience is framed as a local, mini 'Amazing Race' that tests wit, strength, charm and general heroic prowess. You can turn up on your own and get sorted into a group, or arrive with your own established party.

It's a good one if you've ever wanted to treat a Saturday morning in the city like a tabletop session. You'll be out in the neighborhood with your friends, working through these scenarios together, so it's as much about the group as it is about the puzzles. The opening ceremony is at Cal Anderson Park, 1635 11th Ave, in Capitol Hill, and the hunt kicks off at 10 AM. Entry is $16.
