Post-punk duo Nights of Grief & Mystery perform live at The Ballard Homestead, continuing their 'Caldera' album tour.
Nights of Grief & Mystery play The Ballard Homestead on Saturday, October 17, as part of their tour. The project is a collaboration between Stephen Jenkinson and Gregory Hoskins, and the Seattle date comes on the heels of their latest album, Caldera.
Caldera continues the conversation the two have been building together. It runs nine tracks and about forty-six minutes, produced by Hoskins and Jenkinson. The recording spanned a long stretch, from February 19, 2023, to November 15, 2025, with Adam Bowman on Moog, drums, and additional production, and Lisa Hodgson on voice. Don Rooke added resonator guitar and Amy Laing played cello. A limited edition double-disc set of only 300 copies came out on June 17, 2026, so if you've been following the record since then, this is one of the nights you can hear it live.
Jenkinson and Hoskins are the two names at the center of the project, and the tour takes the material from Caldera on the road. The album's title, Caldera, refers to the large crater formed when a volcano collapses into itselfโa fitting image for a project that carries grief and mystery in its name. With the Moog, drums, resonator guitar, cello, and voice that went into the recording, there's a fair amount of ground covered across those nine tracks.
