A soulful concert featuring Naomi Wachira and Nanseera at The Rabbit Box Theatre in Pike Place Market.
Naomi Wachira plays The Rabbit Box on Thursday, October 15, with Nanseera opening. It's a double bill of two singer-songwriters who both lean into folk and soul, and both have spent a good deal of their lives moving between continents.
Wachira was born in Kenya and now lives here in Seattle. She blends African rhythms with soulful storytelling, and her songs center on love, resilience, and social justice. Over the last few years, she's become one of the region's most poignant voices in folk and soul.
Nanseera is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter who describes herself as having an old soul and a sharp pen. She's mixed-race and London-born, grew up in Uganda and Ethiopia, moved to the U.S. for high school and college, and has spent time in France and Uganda while touring the East Coast. She draws on artists like Tracy Chapman, Lianne LaHavas, and Sheryl Crow, and is currently celebrating the release of her second EP, Stop the Lies, which she describes as an intimate exploration of the politics of our world and our relationships.
