Concert by alt-pop rock artist MICO on his Running From A Feeling Tour at The Showbox.
MICO plays The Showbox on Saturday, October 10, as part of the Running From A Feeling Tour. He's a 23-year-old Filipino-Canadian artist from Toronto, and the set will draw from his debut album, When the lights turn on, released through Columbia Records.
If you're not familiar with the name, MICO is the stage name of Miguel Veloso. He makes emotionally charged alt-pop rock that blends the hook-heavy nostalgia of 2000s and 2010s pop punk with modern hyperpop and alternative influences. It's music that leans into the big melodies of that era while keeping a foot in the more glitchy, processed sounds of the current moment.
He didn't start in a traditional way. He first built a following online through Discord performances, TikTok, and self-released music before growing into a global act with sold-out headline tours across North America and Europe. That debut album, When the lights turn on, came together during a year of constant travel and personal upheaval. He's described it as an exploration of identity, nostalgia, heartbreak, and the experience of outgrowing the places and people that once felt like home.
