Indie rock and garage rock performance by Melanie Radford with Michael Beach.
Melanie Radford plays The Black Lodge on Wednesday, October 14, with Michael Beach opening. The show starts at 7 PM, and the venue is at 429 Eastlake Avenue East in Seattle.
Radford is an American bassist and vocalist, and this is a solo date. She's best known for playing bass in the 90s indie rock band Built to Spill, which she joined in 2019. This show comes on the heels of her debut solo album, For the Sake of Stillness, released June 26 via Jealous Butcher Records. It's a singer-songwriter record, so the set will be built around her own songs rather than the band material you might associate her with.
Coming from a band like Built to Spill, she's spent the last few years as part of a guitar-heavy indie rock outfit. For the Sake of Stillness moves her to the front of the room, with her voice and her songwriting taking the lead. If you've followed her work with the band, this is a good chance to hear her on her own terms.
