Medium Build performs live from The Showbox, presenting tracks from their album 'The King of Having Fun' with support from Merle Law.
Medium Build plays The Showbox on Wednesday, October 28, as part of The King of Having Fun tour. He'll be joined by Merle Law, who opens the bill.
Medium Build is the project of Nick Carpenter, a singer-songwriter who grew up in an evangelical household in Georgia. He's built his sound from two personal heartbreaks: the church and his time in an indie rock band called Little Moses. The result sits at the crossroads of lo-fi, indie, and country, and he moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 2018 before signing with slowplay/Island Records. He released the album Country in 2024.
This tour follows a different chapter. A period of heavy drinking and undiagnosed bipolar disorder eventually led him to rock bottom; he got sober, was diagnosed and treated, and channeled that experience into King of Having Fun, the album that accompanies this tour. He identifies as queer and lists his influences across a wide range, from Pedro the Lion and Alvvays to Harry Styles and U2.
