A sci-fi comedy for children ages 6 and up, blending live performance with shadow puppetry and marionettes.
Marooned! A Space Comedy runs from March 31 to April 18, 2027, at the Charlotte Martin Theatre inside the Seattle Children's Theatre. It's part of their 2026-27 season, and the story is a pretty straightforward setup: an astronaut travels 87,000 light years only to crash-land on an uncharted planet, where she has to survive with nothing but her robotic friend ATA to help her. From there, it leans into the comedy of the situation.
Written by Alex and Olmsted, the show is a sci-fi comedy built on slapstick humor, parodies of classic space-adventure tropes, and over-the-top mishaps. It doesn't stick to just actors on stage, eitherβit blends live performance with shadow puppetry and marionettes, so you'll see the story told through a few different styles at once. Critics have called it "achingly beautiful" and "amusing, charming, delightful and, at times, utterly and completely astonishing."
