Portuguese singer-songwriter Maro performs live in Seattle as part of her 'SO MUCH HAS CHANGED' World Tour.
MARO plays Barboza on Thursday, October 8, at 7 PM. She's a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer from Lisbon, Portugal, and this stop is part of her SO MUCH HAS CHANGED World Tour.
She's been active since her 2018 debut and has put out five albums and an EP since then. Her discography covers a fair amount of ground: can you see me? blends pop, trap, world, and folk; hortelĂŁ (2023) is an acoustic trio album that won the JosĂ© Afonso Award for Portuguese Album of the Year; and LIFELINE (2024) is a more electronic record she made with NASAYA. She's a Berklee College of Music graduate, and that multi-instrumentalist label isn't just for showâshe handles a lot of the playing herself.
Beyond her own records, she's spent a good deal of time on other people's stages. She joined Jacob Collier on his DJESSE World Tour and has opened for Jessie J, Gipsy Kings, Charlotte Cardin, The Paper Kites, and Shawn Mendes, and shared stages with Odesza and Parcels. In 2020, she started ITSAME, MARO!, a 100-episode collaboration series where she worked with artists like Eric Clapton, Pablo AlborĂĄn, Lizzy McAlpine, Ivan Lins, Vitor Kley, ANAVITĂRIA, SĂlvia PĂ©rez Cruz, Maria GadĂș, Mayra Andrade, Rui Veloso, and Lennon Stella.

She also knows the Eurovision circuit: she won the Festival da Canção and represented Portugal at Eurovision 2022 with "saudade, saudade," which finished in the top 10. The Seattle date is part of the SO MUCH HAS CHANGED World Tour, so you'll likely hear a mix of the acoustic and electronic sounds she's been moving between lately. The show is at Barboza, 925 East Pike Street, starting at 7 PM.
