Concert by New York hyperpop, cloud rap and digicore artist kuru, with support from Frost Children.
kuru plays Showbox SoDo on Friday, December 4, with Frost Children opening. It's a New York artist coming out to Seattle for the night, and the bill puts two names on the stage rather than just one.
If you're not familiar with the name, kuru's sound sits at the intersection of hyperpop, cloud rap and digicore. Those are three different corners of the internet-born music scene that often bleed into each other: the high-energy, pitched-up vocals of hyperpop; the hazy, atmospheric beats of cloud rap; and the glitchy, digital-first production of digicore. When they overlap, you get music that feels like it was made on a laptop in a bedroom but meant for a loud room.
Frost Children takes the opening slot, so the night starts with two acts from that same orbit. Both artists work within that high-contrast, digital-heavy space, so the transition from the opener to the headliner should feel like a natural progression rather than a shift in gears. If you've been following the hyperpop and digicore scenes, this is exactly the kind of pairing you'd expect to see on a bill.

The show is at Showbox SoDo, 1700 1st Ave S, and it starts at 8 PM. That's a Friday night in early December, so it's a good one to keep on the radar for when the winter weather starts to settle in.
